Lot description

Oil on canvas.
Signed and dated on the reverse. 160 x 190 cm (62.9 x 74.8 in). [JS].
• Between 1964 and 1968, Wintersberger was a member of the legendary Berlin exhibition collective and artists' gallery “Großgörschen 35”, which showed works by, among others, Markus Lüpertz, K. H. Hödicke and Bernd Koberling.
• With their new figurative art, Wintersberger and his fellow artists revolted against the then prevailing informal painting and had a decisive influence on West German art until the 1980s.

PROVENANCE: From the artist's estate (with the estate stamp on the stretcher).
Private collection Switzerland (inherited from the above).
In good condition. Edges minimally scuffed in places and with isolated faint signs of wear in the margins.
