Woodcut.
Ebner/Gabelmann 255 H. Dube H 148. Signed, dated and titled. One of to date 14 known copies. 36.6 x 20.5 cm (14.4 x 8 in). Sheet: cm ( in).

• The hand-made print from the best Dresden "Brücke" period was created during Heckel's stay in Dangast.
• With this powerful pictorial language, Heckel proves to be at the height of his woodcut art.
• Heckel's radical style finally overcame the decorative and curved elements of Art Nouveau.
• Not a single copy of this woodcut has been offered on the international auction market in the last ten years (source: artprice).
• Further copies of this rare print can be found in the collections of the Brücke Museum, Berlin, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Landesmuseum für Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte, Oldenburg

PROVENANCE: Hermann Gerlinger Collection, Würzburg (acquired in 1990: Lempertz, with the collector's stamp on the reverse, Lugt 6032).

EXHIBITION: Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landesmuseum Schloss Gottorf, Schleswig (permanent loan from the Hermann Gerlinger Collection, 1995-2001).
Kunstmuseum Moritzburg, Halle an der Saale (permanent loan from the Hermann Gerlinger Collection, 2001-2017).
Buchheim Museum, Bernried (permanent loan from the Hermann Gerlinger Collection, 2017-2022).
